(It's Been Awhile) Bento

I made this bento for Luke the other day, at his request :)   I guess I haven't made a bento in a long time.... Bento seem to be more of a spring/summer go-to meal for me.  In the fall and winter I am constantly making big batches of comfort food instead: Chili, Stew, Crock pot meals etc.  The saran wrap is a little addition I include in Luke's bento when I think his adventure of the day may result in an upturned bento box.

Christmas Lights

I can't believe this is the first year we have put up outdoor Christmas lights.  I love Christmas, and Christmas lights especially, so I am super excited that we finally have some of our very own. We did have to invest in an extremely long extension cord, but it was so worth it, even for the small amount of lights we bought this year. I am also very grateful for the fact that my new camera can actually capture a decent picture at night.  I still have no idea how to use my camera to its full potential, but even with the easy automatic settings, these pictures turned out much better than I expected.

Christmas Craft Show on the S.S. Sicamous

Today we drove to Penticton so that we could check out the S.S. Sicamous, a paddle-wheeler boat that will celebrating its 100th birthday next year.  The boat is permanently docked on the beach front in Penticton and there are many different events held inside during the year.
Right now there is a Christmas Craft Sale going on and we both jumped at the chance to explore the ship as neither of us has been inside before.
The many exhibits and informative plaques were the highlight, the craft booths, while interesting, took a back seat as we explored the old vessel.
It felt like we traveled back in time
These are the first pictures I have posted that were taken with my new cell phone, I'm happy with how they turned out, sometimes I just don't feel like lugging my DSLR everywhere.

The boat has been restored beautifully, we were definately glad we made the trek!
We also bought some delicious homemade apple cider at the craft sale that made the trip even more worth while.

Our New Slow Cooker

We recently bought ourselves a slow cooker so that we could come home to a fresh meal after work every once in a while.

It's such a nice break not having to come home and make dinner right away after working all day.  Walking through the door to a delicious smelling, piping hot meal is so awesome.
So far our favourite meal is 'Enchilada Chicken Stew' from PaleOMG.  It makes at least six servings, which is a bonus.  I put all of the ingredients in a large ziploc bag the night before and pop the contents into the slow cooker in the morning before I leave for work.  We are also going to start making multiple bagged meals and freezing them in preparation for our life with a newborn.
This meal is so delicious, its really the only way Luke will eat chicken and enjoy it!
