Spring Decorating

We're getting ready for the Easter long weekend out here.  Were supposed to have sunshine the entire time, with temperatures as high as 20 degrees!  Oh yeah we are excited!

Easter Egg Garland

Every year, for each different 'holiday' I try to make a new craft.  It's a tradition that I love because it forces me to get creative and use up my craft supplies. I also love the anticipation and excitement of an approaching holiday and this is one way I prepare for and appreciate them even more.
This garland cost me $2 and took about 5 minutes to make because the eggs came with holes punched in them.  How awesome is that! Very smart thinking to market these in a craft store with them being ready to be strung, or wired or used for other crafting purposes. I have had this idea for a couple of years but all of the plastic eggs I came across did not have holes so I was less gung-ho about taking them home and devising a way to thread them.  The instant I saw these at Michael's I grinned and snapped them up. Perfect.

Backyard Happenings

Circus likes to 'help' with the crass cutting
Good thing its burning season around here, we sure have a lot of yard waste this year

I think I jinxed it with my last post.... Mother nature reminded us that spring is still young

The Last Days oWinter

The snow is melting and uncovering the grass and leaves that have been hiding since last fall
The grass is starting to show hints of green
The bright blue sky is making an appearance a little more often

The sun shines on us a little more often too

and the last patch of snow is slowly melting away

My Birthday (Part 2)

Since Luke and I are pretty minimalist  we don't usually get each other presents for our birthdays.  We do however, take each other out for an awesome dinner, and this year was no exception.  I chose to go to Chutney House of India, which is quickly becoming my favourite restaurant in Kelowna.
We always get the 'Platter for Two' because it comes with so many different foods: Garlic cilantro naan bread, tandoori chicken, butter chicken, beef/lamb curry, cucumber dressing, rice, black bean sauce and last but not least, my favoutire, gulab jaman.
And here is a pile of wonderful presents that I received from my family. Thank you all for making me feel very special!
My Nanna gave me some money and I always make sure to by myself something nice with it.  This year I decided to splurge on some Martha Stewart office and craft supplies. I have so many plans for these items, I can't wait to tear into them. :)

My First Lunchbots Bento

 Container: Lunchbots Green Uno
Contents: Pepper salami, cucumber slices, cheddar cheese, baby carrots and grape tomatoes

Oh how I love my new lunchbots bento! I have been dreaming about getting one of these babies for so long.... I finally found a store in Kelowna that carries this amazing brand and bought one for myself on my birthday.  It was a little pricey, which is why I have waited so darn long to buy one, but it was so very worth it.  You can learn about all of the stainless steal, environmentally friendly lunchbots products on their website here.

My Birthday (Part One)

I celebrated a birthday yesterday, and it was the first time I actually felt a little apprehensive about getting older. Luckily, I love birthday's so much that I had a great day regardless.  Everyone made me feel so very special!  This beautiful plant showed up at my work yesterday thanks to my Mom and Sister. I couldn't have picked one better myself, I love it so much.

Here are my unopened packages... I couldn't wait to see what was inside
Luke's Mom sent me this gorgeous present, I saved the rope and wrapping paper for future crafting projects because they were just too pretty to throw away.

Curious to see what was inside?  I will post the contents shortly, as well as some pics of our delicious dinner.

Blue Sky at Big White

Can you believe this was my first blue sky day of the season?  They don't call it Big White for nothing, let me assure you.  I have been waiting patiently since November for the chance to snap some clear pictures of our adventures on the mountain!
The view is so amazing, I wish I had a panoramic option on my camera for stuff like this.
The snow was soft and the visibility was perfect, we couldn't have asked for a better day.
